Zenith Bank launches “Go Lite ” to back cash-lite drive

Zenith Bank has launched the “Go Lite with Zenith Bank” campaign as part of efforts in raising awareness of the Bank’s digital products and services that makes banking safer, faster, smarter and more convenient for customers.

They are Zmobile, internet banking, cards, MoMo/Banking 2 wallet and Scan to pay.

Some of the  notable features of the Z-Mobile app include allowing customers to check balances on their accounts, view transaction history, top up investments (within Zenith and other investment houses like Databank), set up beneficiaries, effect instant intra-bank and interbank transfers via the GhIPSS Instant Pay (GIP) service as well as pay bills.

According to, the Managing Director/ /Chief Executive Officer of the Bank, Mr Henry Oroh, the campaign was also to promote the Government’s agenda for a cash-lite economy.

“This campaign is to focus on our redefined products and services in our bid to provide a ‘356 days, 24/7’ excellent customer experience.”

Mr. Oroh added that in the past two decades, the world’s information grid had expanded massively with electronic signals, while many of these digital exchanges globally involved electronic payments, making traditional methods of handling physical cash less attractive by the day.

Ghana, indeed, Africa could not be left behind because financial transaction was at the heart of doing commerce, selling goods and services, managing a business and taking care of one’s family.

Zenith Bank in the past 14 years had pioneered the adoption of digital solutions in the Ghanaian market with tried and trusted products that were constantly evolving to meet the dynamic trends of its customers, he said.

Mr Oroh expressed the Bank’s resolve to use savvy technology and super innovative products to optimally attract the about 70 per cent unbanked population on the continent.

The bundling electronic payment information and software created opportunities for businesses to streamline and automate processes relating to procurement, inventory management and payment collection, he said.

“The spread of digital transaction could increase the effectiveness of government’s control of crime and corruption”.

Dr Settor Amediku, Head of Payment Systems at the Bank of Ghana, commended the Management of the Bank for the initiative to create awareness on the products, which were submitted and approved by the Central Bank.

He said the country had done so well with regard to electronic payment systems; with over 40 products and services having been approved by the Central Bank.

He, therefore, urged the Banks to mobilise resources to create public awareness on these products and services to drive the cash-lite agenda.

Mr Amediku said the country was moving towards a direction of digital payment, therefore, the banks should reposition themselves to take advantage of the opportunity
