Huawei supplies chips for spy cameras

A Huawei Technologies subsidiary is now delivering newly manufactured Chinese chips designed for surveillance cameras, indicating that the Chinese tech company has managed to navigate around the export restrictions imposed by the US for the past years.

In the current year, shipments of chips from Huawei’s HiSilicon chip design division to surveillance camera manufacturers have commenced. It’s worth noting that at least a portion of these customers are based in China.

China has alleged that the United States engaged in infiltration of Huawei’s servers. This was purportedly part of a widespread campaign aimed at data theft, which eventually resulted in tens of thousands of cyberattacks against Chinese targets in the previous year.

Huawei’s rotating chairwoman and chief financial officer, Meng Wanzhou has announced the company’s intention to adopt a comprehensive intelligent strategy aimed at expediting the industry’s transformation into an intelligent one.

In response to a review that revealed a significant dependence on Chinese suppliers like Huawei and ZTE, Germany’s interior ministry is reportedly considering measures to compel telecom operators to reduce their reliance on equipment from these companies in their 5G networks.
