Kenya Airways expands European presence via airBaltic partnership

Kenya Airways (KQ) and airBaltic (BT), Latvia’s flag carrier, have entered an interline agreement enabling passengers from both airlines to use a single ticket and share baggage, potentially benefiting Kenya’s national carrier.

As part of the agreement, KQ will expand its European reach through Amsterdam, Paris, and Dubai.

This agreement also allows airBaltic passengers to book tickets to Nairobi and smoothly connect to KQ’s various destinations throughout Africa.

This deal is expected to increase KQ’s passenger numbers significantly, reaching 2.3 million compared to 1.6 million in the same period the previous year. This growth is likely to contribute to revenue growth and the ongoing effort to reduce consistent losses.

In an interline deal, passengers can check in once for their entire itinerary, receive all boarding passes, and seamlessly transfer their luggage from one airline to another.
