MTN Group’s new partnership with Microsoft – All the benefits it will bring

MTN Group has formed a strategic alliance with Microsoft to drive growth across its digital, cloud, and enterprise go-to-market segments.

This partnership will transform and modernise MTN’s communications infrastructure by harnessing the combined power of both businesses.

“Together with Microsoft, MTN Business will be able to enhance both its technological capabilities and its product offerings across Africa,” said Dr Nkosi Kumalo, General Manager for ICT Products and Capability at MTN Business.

Dr. Kumalo explained that MTN Group’s goal with this alliance is to improve the company’s range of offerings while bringing major digital and communications transformation to Africa.

This aligns with MTN Business’s focus on helping businesses across Africa become innovators and disruptors that are leaders in their fields.

“At MTN Business, we see a lot of potential for growth in the African market and this agreement will accelerate value creation and provide support at the government, business, and customer level thanks to the versatility of Microsoft’s platforms,” said Dr. Kumalo.

Go-to-market plans

MTN Group and Microsoft are both excited to work together and develop joint go-to-market plans in the markets where MTN Group operates.

As part of these plans, Microsoft will work with MTN Group to upskill its employees across the entire Microsoft ecosystem. This will enable MTN Enterprise Business Unit technical and frontline staff engage and support businesses through their Digital Transformation journeys across the whole technology stack.

Both MTN and Microsoft will then leverage their knowledge in their respective fields to open new doors in Africa.

MTN Group is particularly excited about the opportunities in fields like digital education, SME digitisation, and fintech – and looks forward to serving these industries through shared value creation, connectivity, and inclusivity.

This will be made possible thanks to a knowledge-sharing relationship with Microsoft, which will allow MTN to improve its ability to execute highly technical projects across industries.
