MTN Nigeria appoints Modupe Kadri as its Executive Director and CFO

Telecom giant, MTN Group is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Modupe Kadri as its new Executive Director (ED) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Kadri’s appointment was announced by the MTN Group recently and it will be effective March 1, 2020.

According to a statement signed by MTN Nigeria’s Company Secretary, Uto Ukpanah, he will be replacing the former CFO, Adekunle Awobodu whose departure was announced earlier.

Kadri has both Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Management and Economics from the University of Lagos. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) as well as the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

Mr Modupe was the CFO for MTN Ghana for a period of five years. Within this period, Modupe received the Ghana Telecoms CFO of the Year Award four times – in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019.

He joined MTN Nigeria in 2007 as the General Manager Finance Operations. He was appointed the General Manager, Financial Planning 6 years later. He served as the acting CFO for MTN Nigeria in 2014 for a period of 3 months after which he assumed the role of acting CFO, MTN Ghana.

His prior experience includes stints in a number of key player companies across diverse industry segment. This includes PricewaterhouseCoopers, Lafarge and Allied Pickfords.

Meanwhile, Omolara Micheal-Nwadu will assume the position of acting CFO for MTN Nigeria until Mr Modupe resumes in 2020.
