Safaricom, Vivo Energy to offer Shell fuel discounts to cab drivers

Safaricom has partnered with Vivo Energy Kenya, the company behind Shell fuels, to provide online cab drivers with a significant boost through the popular “Bundle Ya Dere” package, now featuring a KSh2 discount per litre on Shell fuel every Saturday.

The new partnership, announced today, targets ride-hailing drivers on platforms such as Uber, Bolt, Little, Faras, and Yego, aiming to cut their daily running costs while adding more value to Safaricom’s driver-focused bundles.

Every Saturday, drivers subscribed to Bundle Ya Dere will receive an automatic Ksh2 discount for every litre of Shell fuel purchased at any Shell service station across the country. The discount is funded through the partnership and requires no extra steps once the driver is on the bundle.

Speaking at the launch, Peter Murungi, Managing Director of Vivo Energy Kenya, said the collaboration was designed to deliver “real, everyday value” to taxi drivers.

“We serve millions of Kenyans through our retail network every day. Today we are excited to join an initiative that makes life easier and more rewarding for drivers across the country,” Mr Murungi said.

Fawzia Ali Kimathi, Safaricom’s Chief Consumer Business Officer, added:
“This dual deal with Vivo Energy Kenya reduces operational costs and increases savings for drivers. In a mobile, on-demand world, we are combining connectivity, convenience and cashback so drivers can focus on what they do best.”
