UK-Based Paytech Cardstream Appoints Gurinder Sumra as Chief Financial Officer

Cardstream, a leading paytech company, has announced the appointment of Gurinder Sumra as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

In his new role, Sumra will spearhead the company’s growth strategy, emphasizing the establishment of new partnerships and exploring opportunities for mergers and acquisitions.

Sumra brings over 30 years of experience in financial services to the role, having previously held leadership positions such as commercial finance director at VocaLink, CFO at OneVu, and CFO for FIS’s banking and payments division across the EMEA region. He also previously served for over six years as the CFO of Elavon’s European payment-acquiring division.

Founded in 1999, Cardstream offers a wide range of payment services, including transaction monitoring, payment facilitation and acquiring, routing, and onboarding verification and management.

With its Open Payment Network, Cardstream claims to connect more than 400 global acquirers, fraud detection systems, commerce solutions, and payment methods in over 120 countries.

Adam Sharpe, Cardstream’s CEO said: “Gurinder’s appointment is a statement of intent for the company.  His experience, knowledge and strategic approach will be vital for us as we fulfil our ambitious goals.”

Gurinder is a keen sportsman and plays both hockey and cricket competitively. Amongst his non-executive directorships, he also serves on two key sub-committees for the ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board). He is also a big Bruce Springsteen fan, managing to squeeze in watching him live in Sunderland on the eve of joining Cardstream!
