Tullow Oil appoints two new Non-Executive Directors

Tullow Oil has announced the appointment of Sheila Khama and Genevieve Sangudi as Non-Executive Directors taking effect from Friday, 26 April 2019. The appointment follows the resignation of Mr. Tutu Agyare, as a Non-Executive Director.

Following Tullow oil’s announcement in February, Mr. Tutu Agyare has officially resigned as a Non-Executive Director after the company’s Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Mr. Agyare worked in Tullow oil as a Non-Executive Director since 2010, providing significant support and insight. He was also a member of several Board committees, including chairing the Remuneration Committee for the past two years.

Tullow also announced in a statement that Sheila and Genevieve will stand for election to the Board at the 2020 AGM.

Sheila Kharma is a native of Botswana. She worked as a Practice Manager for the World Bank’s Energy and Extractive Industries Global Practice. She joined the World Bank after serving as Director of the African Natural Resources Center at the African Development Bank (AfDB). Prior to joining AfDB, Ms. Khama worked for a Think Tank in Ghana, Anglo American Corporation plc, De Beers Group and First National Bank of Botswana. Ms. Khama holds an MBA from Edinburgh University Business School. Upon appointment, Sheila will join the Environment, Health and Safety Committee.

Genevieve Sangudi is based in Johannesburg, South Africa. She joined Carlyle as a Managing Director advising on buyout and growth opportunities in Sub-Saharan Africa in 2011. She has over 15 years of investment experience in Africa in the healthcare, financial services, oil & gas, petrochemicals, agribusiness and telecommunications sectors. Prior to joining Carlyle, Ms. Sangudi was a Partner and Managing Director with Emerging Capital Partners. She also has significant experience in the fast moving consumer goods sector, having started her career at Procter & Gamble where she worked on market strategies for numerous global brands.

Ms. Sangudi received an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School, a Masters in international affairs from Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs and a B.A. from Macalester College. Upon appointment, Genevieve will join the Remuneration and Audit Committees.
