Folake Ani Mumuney & Monalisa Shah Shines at 9th Marketing World Awards

Two female giants in the marketing & communications industry took the shine at the just concluded 9th Marketing World Awards which was held in Accra , Ghana at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel. The amazons were honored for their immense achievements and outstanding contributions to the brands and marketing industry.
The Awards which was themed “celebrating brands and individuals that work tirelessly and passionately”, recognized outstanding brands, the best campaigns, marketing innovations, creative use of digital marketing channels, individuals and organizations that have exhibited excellence in the marketing profession across Africa.
While Monali Shah; Marketing executive with over 18 years of solid experience in FMCG, Telco, Banking, and entertainment industry was named the African Marketing Professional of the Year for her contributions to the Coca-Cola brand across the African Sub region.
Kenyan born and raised, Monali is a known pioneer and trail blazer in the Marketing Communications Industry in Africa; having led (with her team) some of the most well-known campaigns for the Coca-Cola company- Coke Studio, Africa, Billion Reasons to Believe, Share a Coke, Copa Coca-Cola, FIFA World Cup global, Taste the Feeling campaign to name a few.
On the other hand, Folake Ani mumuney was honoured with the Marketing World Life Time Achievement Award for her phenomenal contributions to the marketing profession across Africa.
Folake Ani-Mumuney heads the Marketing and Corporate Communications function globally for the FirstBank Group, Nigeria’s foremost commercial banking group and has oversight for same function for FBNHoldings Plc and all its subsidiaries spanning Asset Management, Investment Banking, Private Equity, Insurance, Pension Fund Custodian services – making it one of the most diversified financial conglomerates on the continent.
With a career spanning over 24 years across diverse industries and sectors such as banking, aviation, manufacturing, oil & gas, amongst others, Folake has held varied roles, leading strategy and business planning, business analysis & process re-engineering, new business development, innovation and marketing, She has managed portfolios in various locations globally and held responsibility for diverse regions covering Europe & Africa, Asia Pacific, Middle East and the United Kingdom at various points in her career. It is interesting to note that the Marketing doyen also serves as the Chairman Board of Directors, FBNInsurance Brokers.
The 9th MWA also hosted marketing experts and global brands such as , Barclays Bank, MTN Ghana, MTN Nigeria, Mouka Foam, Jospong Group, Zenith bank Ghana, PZ Cussons, FBNBank Ghana , First Bank of Nigeria, Access Bank Nigeria,Sterling Bank, Access bank Ghana, Terragon Ltd, Chi Limited, SBI Media, Nigeria Stock Exchange and a host of others.
The CEO of Instinct Wave, Mr. Akin Naphtal in his welcome speech at the event, lauded all award winners for their outstanding performance and innovations in the marketing and communications industry.
“At the helm of successful companies is the marketing communication function, yet the industry is often overlooked, especially when it comes to counting profit contributors. This is why the 2019 Marketing World Awards which is in its 9th year, continues to throw the spotlight on brands and individuals for their immense contribution to the marketing industry”, he said.
