Ghana: Absa launches supplier finance programme

Absa Bank in Ghana has launched its Supplier Finance Programme, a forward-thinking initiative poised to transform corporate supply chains in the region. This program underscores Absa Bank’s commitment to delivering holistic financial solutions tailored to meet the evolving needs of corporate clients.

Within the dynamic landscape of business operations, effective cash flow management stands as a cornerstone for sustainable growth. Conventional supply chain finance methods often fall short in this regard. Absa Bank’s Supplier Finance Programme emerges as a sophisticated alternative, bolstering supplier liquidity and streamlining buyer working capital management.

Absa’s Supplier Finance Programme aims to foster smoother and mutually beneficial transactions for both buyers and suppliers. It enables suppliers to promptly receive payment for their invoices, facilitating early payments and bolstering cash flow. Through digital transaction management, operational processes are streamlined, reducing the reliance on cumbersome paperwork.

The programme extends crucial support to smaller suppliers, particularly Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), who often face challenges meeting banks’ credit requirements elsewhere. Simultaneously, larger companies can optimize their cash flows and enhance the sustainability of their supply chains through this innovative initiative.

According to Ellen Ohene-Afoakwa, Managing Executive, Corporate and Investment Banking at Absa Bank Ghana LTD, the buyer-led program enables strategic suppliers in the buyer’s supply chain with the option to access cash through their discounted receivables, whilst allowing the buyer (Absa’s client) to lengthen or standardise their payment terms, thereby optimizing the working capital ambitions of both parties.

“With the Supplier Finance Programme, we are setting a new standard for supply chain financing in Ghana, by solutioning players within ecosystems of growth sectors in our economy.”

The programme comes amidst the bank’s recent introduction of a new brand promise, “Your Story Matters.” The new brand promise underscores Absa’s commitment to human-centred empathy that fosters partnerships and seamless customer experiences.

By introducing the Supplier Finance Programme, Absa Bank is reaffirming its position as a leader in financial innovation, continually committed to the economic growth and business prosperity of Ghana.

Ms. Ohene-Afoakwa encouraged Absa corporate clients to leverage the Supplier Finance Programme to enhance their business potential. Interested parties can visit absa.com.gh, speak to their Relationship Manager, or call 030 242 9150 for more information.
