Benjamin Mutimura, CEO, I&M Bank (Rwanda) Plc emerge as InstinctBusiness CEO of the week

Mr. Benjamin Mutimura is a seasoned professional with a distinguished career spanning 16 years in the financial sector and an additional 4 years in the education sector. His extensive experience includes 13 years at I&M Bank (Rwanda) Plc, followed by 3 years at the Bank of Kigali, where he has made significant contributions across various domains including corporate banking, retail, credit, and finance.

Mr. Mutimura’s journey at I&M Bank began in 2007, where he assumed the role of Development Finance Officer, demonstrating his adeptness in securing funds from Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) for long-term projects. His exemplary performance led to his promotion to Head of Retail in 2012, where he excelled in driving customer-centric initiatives and enhancing the bank’s retail offerings. From 2016 to 2020, he served as Head of Corporate and Institutional Banking, where he played a pivotal role in fostering strategic partnerships and delivering tailored financial solutions to corporate clients.

In 2020, Mr. Mutimura transitioned to the role of Chief Commercial Officer at the Bank of Kigali, where he continues to leverage his expertise in driving commercial strategy and business development initiatives. His leadership has been instrumental in driving the bank’s growth trajectory and reinforcing its position as a leading financial institution in Rwanda.

He holds a Master’s degree in development economics from Louvain La Neuve & Namur University and a Bachelors’ degree in Economics from the former National University of Rwanda.

Gwen G. Kinisu, MD/CEO of Prudential Kenya, emerge as InstinctBusiness CEO of the week

Gwen G. Kinisu is a dynamic and visionary leader with over 15 years of experience in transforming businesses and inspiring teams within the insurance and banking sectors. As the Managing Director and CEO of Prudential Kenya, Gwen brings a unique blend of marketing prowess, technological acumen, and strategic leadership to her role.

With a strong foundation in finance, insurance, and business management, Gwen has been instrumental in driving Prudential Kenya’s growth and success in the competitive insurance landscape. Her leadership has positioned the company as a trusted provider of innovative insurance solutions, known for its unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction, forward-thinking approach, and financial stability.

Gwen’s strategic vision and dynamic leadership style have been key factors in Prudential Kenya’s continued evolution and expansion. Funmi Ekundayo STL Trustees CEO, emerge as InstinctBusiness CEO of the week

Funmi Ekundayo is a distinguished professional with a rich educational background and extensive experience in both legal practice and the financial sector.

A graduate of the Harvard Business School’s General Management Programme, she holds a Bachelor of Law degree as well as a Master of Laws degree from the University of Lagos. As a member of the Nigerian Bar Association and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN), she brings a wealth of legal and corporate governance expertise to her roles.

Funmi embarked on her career at the esteemed law firm of Bentley Edu & Co (in association with IRVING & BONNAR), where she honed her skills in legal practice over nearly a decade. Transitioning to the financial sector, she joined Sterling Asset Management & Trustees Limited (formerly NAL Asset Management & Trustees Limited), marking the beginning of her journey in trust management.

With a proven track record of leadership and innovation, Funmi has held key positions in various organizations, including UBA Trustees Limited, where she served as Head of Business Development & Marketing. At Skye Trustees Limited, she ascended from Assistant General Manager of Business Development to the position of Managing Director/CEO, demonstrating her exceptional capabilities in trust management and business development.

Funmi’s outstanding contributions to the Finance industry have earned her numerous accolades and awards. She was recognized as the Trustee Company CEO of the Year at the Nigeria Finance Innovation Awards in 2018 and received the Trustees Company of the Year award at the Business Day Banks & Financial Institutions Awards in 2023. Under her leadership, STL Trustees Limited has received prestigious honours such as the Non-Interest Trustee of the Year in 2017 and Trustee Firm of the Year in 2018, among others.
