Ecobank Uganda profits soar 125% to UGX 24.3bn in 2025

Ecobank Uganda delivered a stellar performance in 2025, recording a 125% jump in Profit After Tax to UGX 24.3 billion (over $6.5 million) as the bank strengthened its position as a key financial partner for corporate, SME, and consumer clients across the country.

Guided by its strategic pillars of Growth, Transformation, and Returns, the bank posted robust results driven by strong revenue growth, deeper client relationships, and enhanced operational efficiencies.

Total income rose 33% to UGX 100.8 billion, fuelled by increased digital and transaction banking activities as well as greater client engagement. Customer deposits grew significantly by 79% to UGX 943.6 billion, while customer loans expanded 37% to UGX 275.6 billion, reflecting the bank’s focus on providing targeted financing and liquidity support to businesses and individuals.

Equity also strengthened, rising 18% to UGX 157.8 billion, bolstering the bank’s capital base and supporting sustainable expansion.

Beyond the balance sheet, Ecobank Uganda advanced its digital transformation agenda and leveraged its Pan-African network to facilitate cross-border trade. Key platforms such as Omni Plus and the Ecobank Trade Hub played a central role in enhancing service delivery and connectivity for clients.

The bank maintained a strong commitment to shared prosperity and community impact. Through its Ecobank Heart & Soul initiative, it contributed UGX 30 million to the Mengo Hospital Rotary Blood Bank and extended support to vulnerable groups, including children with developmental disabilities.
