Genesis Energy,Desert Tech. announce clean energy alliance

Genesis Energy Holding, a Pan-African leader in clean energy infrastructure, and Desert Technologies Industries Factory CJSC, a Saudi-based global pioneer in smart solar solutions, signed a Strategic Collaboration Agreement at the Africa Energy Forum (AEF 2025) in Lagos.

The agreement, building on a Memorandum of Understanding signed earlier in Dubai, marks a significant step toward advancing Africa’s clean energy transformation.

The partnership, formalized by Genesis Chairman Akinwole II Omoboriowo and Desert Technologies CEO Khaled Sharbatly, designates Genesis’s Solar and Storage subsidiary as Desert Technologies’ preferred partner for distributing high-efficiency Solar PV and Battery Storage Systems across Africa.

Focusing on mini-grid and utility-scale solutions, the collaboration leverages Desert Technologies’ innovative Sahara containerized solar system and Genesis’s 4.5 GW project pipeline to deliver reliable power to over 600 million Africans without electricity. The agreement also explores joint ventures, financing models, and access to credit facilities through Saudi EXIM Bank.

“This partnership with Desert Technologies amplifies our mission to bridge Africa’s energy gap,” said Omoboriowo. “By combining their cutting-edge solar solutions with our expertise in infrastructure delivery, we’re empowering communities and driving sustainable growth.” Sharbatly added.

“This alliance extends Saudi innovation into Africa, accelerating clean energy access one community at a time.” Michelle Okoyomo, Genesis’s Vice President of Client Coverage, emphasized, “This is about local empowerment and accessible clean energy for all.” A joint working group will ensure the partnership aligns with ESG standards, supporting Saudi Vision 2030 and Africa’s sustainability goals.
