Ghana: Jospong Group signs export deal with Austrian firm, FIMA Industries

The Jospong Group of Companies (JGC), through its subsidiary Zoomlion Nigeria Limited, has signed a groundbreaking export deal with FIMA Industries GmbH, a reputable Austrian company specializing in green technologies and sustainable solutions.

This important partnership is a major step forward in Jospong Group’s strategy to extend its waste management expertise beyond Ghana and into international markets.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong, Executive Chairman of JGC, and Markus Maierhofer, Chief Executive Officer of FIMA Industries GmbH, on behalf of their respective companies.

The signing ceremony, held in Accra on Friday, September 13, was graced by the Austrian Foreign Affairs Minister, coinciding with the official opening of the Austrian Embassy in Ghana.

This agreement aims to harness the strengths of both companies, merging Zoomlion’s waste collection and management expertise with FIMA Industries’ innovative technology and global presence.

Markus Maierhofer, CEO of FIMA Industries, hailed the partnership with Zoomlion as a “remarkable milestone.”

“By aligning with such a prominent and influential entity, we are poised to contribute meaningfully in Africa’s waste management sector. Our collaboration with Zoomlion and Jospong Group marks the beginning of a new chapter, one that will bring innovative, efficient and environmentally-friendly solutions to waste management in the region. We look forward to expanding our footprint and ensuring that this partnership drives sustainable development across Africa,” he emphasized.

He noted that this collaboration will facilitate the export of waste management services and equipment to various countries, advancing sustainable waste management practices and fostering a cleaner environment globally.

He further highlighted that this agreement follows the successful completion and delivery of a state-of-the-art waste recycling plant in Ghana.

Additionally, Mr. Maierhofer revealed that FIMA Industries has secured insurance from their Austrian partners, which allowed them to extend credit to Zoomlion Ghana, further strengthening the partnership between the two companies.

“Jospong Group, with its extensive footprint, is a major player in Africa’s industrial landscape spanning multiple sectors. Zoomlion, as a key part of the group, stands out as one of the largest waste management and recycling companies not just in Ghana but across the entire African continent,” he expressed.

“Jospong Group, through Zoomlion, has been at the forefront of waste management in Ghana, providing innovative solutions to tackle the country’s waste challenges. This new partnership with FIMA Industries is a testament to the company’s commitment to excellence and its vision of becoming a global leader in waste management,” he pointed out.

Director-FIMA Africa, Egya-Boi Awoonor, highlighted the partnership’s importance, stating that it will bring together Austrian and Ghanaian expertise and focus on the supply of waste management technology.

He stressed the two companies’ long-standing relationship, saying: “Zoomlion has been a valued client of ours for the past eight years, during which time we’ve supplied recycling plants from Austria and vehicles from Germany. What makes today particularly special is that, for the first time, we have financed a major transaction for a Ghanaian company”.

He reiterated that the partnership is expected to leverage strengths of both companies, combining Zoomlion’s expertise in waste collection and management with FIMA Industries’ cutting-edge technology and global reach.
