Ghana: Standard Chartered Bank Appoints Independent Non-Executive Director
Standard Chartered Bank Ghana PLC has appointed Mrs. Cynthia Anne Lumor as an Independent Non-Executive Director, effective October 31, 2024.
Cynthia Anne Lumor, a transformational and progressive business leader, brings a fresh perspective and deep expertise to the board. Her appointment is expected to enhance the bank’s strategic direction and reinforce its commitment to inclusive and innovative leadership.
With a career spanning over two decades in the Nigerian banking industry, she has held senior leadership positions across general management, risk management, legal and commercial negotiations, regulatory affairs, sustainability, reputation management, stakeholder management, advocacy, and transformative organizational development in both the Oil & Gas and telecommunications sectors.
Currently serving as the Deputy Managing Director at Tullow Ghana Limited, Cynthia joined the company in October 2017 as the Director of External Affairs and Social Performance. In 2020, she expanded her role to Corporate Affairs Director before being appointed as Deputy Managing Director in 2021. Prior to her tenure at Tullow Ghana, she was the Corporate Services Executive at MTN Ghana and has also worked with the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).
Her impressive career also includes a significant tenure at the US-based telecommunications giant AT&T, where she climbed the ranks over 19 years to become the Director in charge of the Market Research and Analysis Department.

Cynthia’s extensive academic background includes an MBA in Data Analytics from Nottingham Business School (Nottingham Trent University), UK, an MBA in Marketing from Delta State University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Ambrose Alli University. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Credit Administration of Nigeria (FICA) and an Honorary member of the Chartered Institute of Banking of Nigeria (HCIB). She has also attended various senior management, leadership, and sales courses both locally and internationally.
Under Cynthia’s guidance, Standard Chartered Bank Ghana aims to accelerate its impact in the financial sector, fostering innovation and inclusivity while driving sustainable growth. Her leadership is expected to enhance the bank’s ability to meet the evolving needs of its customers and stakeholders.
