NCBA, Inchcape to boost tractor access for farmers

In a move aimed at accelerating agricultural mechanization and supporting smallholder farmers, NCBA Group has teamed up with global automotive and equipment distributor Inchcape to launch innovative financing for New Holland tractors and related farm machinery.

The landmark partnership offers up to 95% financing on New Holland tractors, making high-quality equipment more attainable for farmers, cooperatives, and agribusinesses nationwide. This initiative addresses longstanding barriers to mechanization in Kenya’s agriculture sector, which contributes around 21% to the country’s GDP and employs nearly 40% of the population—rising to 69% in rural areas.

Key features of the financing model include farmer-friendly terms tailored to the realities of seasonal cash flows:

-Seasonal repayments are aligned with harvest cycles, allowing payments only when income is generated from crops.
-A 60-day payment holiday (grace period), giving farmers time to put the tractor to work before the first installment.
-Additional working capital of up to Ksh. 500,000 for eligible business customers to cover essentials like seeds, fuel, or labour.

-Coverage extending to up to two essential implements (such as ploughs, sprayers, or balers), plus comprehensive insurance through NCBA Bancassurance.

“This is about more than machinery; it is about empowering farmers to expand their acreage and strengthen their livelihoods,” said Lennox Mugambi, Group Director of NCBA Asset Finance. “By matching repayments to the realities of farming, we are removing the barriers that have held the sector back.”

The collaboration combines NCBA’s robust financial expertise with Inchcape’s technical know-how and distribution network. Farmers gain access to a comprehensive after-sales ecosystem, including factory-trained technicians, genuine spare parts, and service support at Inchcape dealerships in Nakuru, Nairobi, Eldoret, and Kisumu. New outlets are planned for Mombasa, Nanyuki, and Meru to expand reach further.

Inchcape, the official distributor of New Holland in Kenya since 2025, brings durable, versatile tractors designed for African conditions, helping improve productivity, reduce labor intensity, and enhance timeliness during peak seasons.

Farmers, cooperatives, and agribusinesses interested in the program can start the application process by contacting an NCBA Relationship Manager at any branch or visiting an authorized Inchcape dealership.
