Nigeria: First Bank appoints Ebenezer Olufowose as new Chairman

Tunde Hassan Odukale, former chairman of First Bank of Nigeria Limited, has stepped down to make way for new leadership. According to the Nigerian Exchange Group, his departure follows the completion of the maximum 12-year term for a non-executive director, as outlined in the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Corporate Governance Guidelines.

“Consequently, the Board of FirstBank has appointed Mr Ebenezer Olufowose, a Non-Executive Director, as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of First Bank of Nigeria Limited,” the notice partly read.

Hassan Odukale, Managing Director of Leadway Assurance Company Limited, joined the Board of First Bank of Nigeria Limited as a Non-Executive Director in 2011.

Olufowose was appointed to the Board of Directors of First Bank on April 29, 201. Prior to this, he served as the Managing Director of First Ally Capital Limited.

Before joining the First Bank Board, Olufowose served as an Executive Director at Access Bank Plc and Citibank Nigeria. With over 36 years of experience in the financial services industry, he is expected to build upon and enhance the achievements of his predecessors.
