Nigeria: Sahara Foundation Reveals Africa’s Next Generation Innovators

The Sahara Group Foundation has organized the second edition of the Sahara STEAMers program, aiming to empower participants with knowledge and skills to develop innovative solutions addressing challenges across various sectors.

The National Demo Day competition, as per the organizers, aims to foster and cultivate the next generation of leaders and social innovators in Africa.

The Sahara STEAMers program, a collaboration with STEMCafe, is an afterschool initiative established to promote innovation, creativity, and excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) education among secondary school students in Africa.

In this year’s edition, participants had the chance to present innovative solutions to a panel of judges.

Ejiro Gray, the Director of Sahara Group Foundation, expressed immense pride in all participating teams, commending their dedication to making a tangible impact on their communities. She highlighted, “The 2023 Sahara STEAMers programme showcased the intelligence, creativity, and passion of the students, many of whom were experiencing their first exposure to technology and the practical applications of STEM learning in addressing real-life problems and inventing innovative solutions.”

Gray extended congratulations to all participants, encouraging them to persist in seizing opportunities to refine the skills gained from the program and apply them to instigate positive change in society. The judges praised the students for their confidence and their ability to develop viable solutions.
