Sarfo-Kantanka retires from active service in the banking industry

Dr. Stephen Sarfo Kantanka; former CEO of Atwima Kwanwoma Rural Bank has retired from active service after thirty-four years in the Banking industry.

During a retirement party held in his honour, Board Chairman of the Bank; Rev. James Owusu Bonsu praised Dr. Sarfo Kantanka for his efficient management skills and leadership qualities in raising the bank from its already enviable status and improving upon it to its present position as one of the best managed rural banks in Ghana.

He praised Dr. Sarfo Kantanka for leading the bank to attain the highest profit ever in the life of the bank last year and stated that he has proven to be a legend in rural banking.

The Board Chair who was melancholic about the official exit of the CEO, took consolation from the fact that he has trained and worked with a strong team that will still be available to support whoever will take up the mantle of leadership of the Bank.

The retired CEO was described by the Board, staff and colleagues from other banks and church leadership as selfless, passionate, God-fearing, and a disciplinarian who was an excellent team player.

Many staff of the Atwima Kwanwoma Rural Bank as well as other banks attributed their success in the rural banking arena to the tutelage of Dr. Sarfo Kantanka and did not hesitate to show their gratitude at the send-off party.

For his part, Dr. Sarfo Kantanka attributed his success to his staff and the hardworking management team as well as his supportive family. He expressed appreciation to everyone who helped him in his career including pastors who prayed for him.

Dr. Sarfo Kantanka was lauded as an excellent leader who continued the good work of his predecessors and built the bank into an enviable institution.

He has received many awards for the bank and for his personal contributions to the growth of the bank and the rural banking industry.

These awards include Most Profitable Rural Bank in Ghana, Most Respected CEO in rural banking and CIMG awards.

He has maintained the Bank as a member of Ghana’s Club 100 during his time as CEO and opened many branches as a way of bringing the bank’s services to the doorstep of the customer.
