Stanbic Bank Ghana Donates Tractor For National Farmers’ Day

Stanbic Bank Ghana, in collaboration with Mechanical Lloyd Ghana, has donated a brand-new Massey Ferguson tractor to the Ministry of Food and Agriculture. This donation is part of Stanbic Bank’s long-standing support for the National Farmers’ Day celebration, marking 17 years of continuous contribution. The tractor will be awarded as the second runner-up prize at the 40th National Farmers’ Day celebrations in Accra.

Head of Agri-Business at Stanbic Bank Ghana, Samuel Okang-Boye, led the delegation during the donation and emphasized the critical role of the agriculture sector in the country’s economy. “The Agric sector remains critical to the bank because of the pivotal role it plays in ensuring food security, nourishing families, and serving as the base for a number of industries. Africa is our home; and we drive her growth by supporting the sectors that are critical growth drivers. Agriculture is one such critical sector. It is also one of the major pillars of our responsibility to the society,” Okang-Boye stated.

This year’s celebration, themed “Building climate-resilient agriculture for sustainable food security, underscores the importance of adopting sustainable agricultural practices. Upon receiving the tractor, Paul Siameh, the acting Chief Director of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, expressed gratitude for Stanbic Bank’s consistent support of National Farmer’s Day and the agriculture sector in general.

Through its agricultural initiatives, Stanbic Bank Ghana has been actively working to enhance the agriculture sector across various agribusiness value chains. The bank’s knowledge-based approach, combined with the deployment of smart digital solutions, has been pivotal in scaling up the sector.

Stanbic Bank’s commitment to agriculture reflects its broader strategy to support critical growth sectors in Africa, ensuring food security and fostering economic development.
