YADEA takes Kenya’s Boda Boda market by a storm with new KIFA electric motorcycle
Global electric two-wheeler manufacturer YADEA has officially debuted at Auto Expo Kenya 2026, unveiling its new KIFA electric motorcycle as part of its expanding green mobility strategy across Africa. The launch marks a key milestone in YADEA’s East African expansion, with Kenya becoming its second market in the region after Ethiopia, where the company has already sold more than 48,000 electric motorcycles since entry.
At the centre of YADEA’s showcase is the KIFA electric motorcycle, developed specifically for Africa’s fast-growing commercial transport sector, particularly the boda boda industry and last-mile logistics services. The model is designed to improve productivity and reduce operating costs for commercial riders, featuring a 250kg payload capacity, reinforced rear cargo rack, and a 770mm extended comfort seat.
Powered by dual removable 72V 30Ah lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, KIFA delivers a range of up to 150 kilometres and supports rapid battery swapping in as little as 30 seconds, significantly reducing downtime for operators. YADEA is also working with Kenyan battery-swapping company ARC Ride to strengthen supporting infrastructure for electric mobility adoption in the country.
Alongside KIFA, YADEA showcased a broader portfolio of electric mobility solutions tailored to both personal and commercial use. These include the Keeness high-performance electric motorcycle, the GT25 and GT60 urban commuter models, and the GT70, designed for food delivery and last-mile logistics operations.

The models highlight YADEA’s strategy to build a full electric mobility ecosystem that addresses diverse transportation needs across African cities. YADEA says Kenya is a critical market in its East African expansion strategy due to the scale of its motorcycle transport sector and rising demand for sustainable transport solutions.
Speaking at the event, East Africa Market Director John Zhang said Kenya represents a key opportunity for accelerating green mobility adoption. “Kenya is a strategic market in our East African growth journey. Following our success in Ethiopia, we are confident our electric mobility solutions will meet the rising demand for sustainable transport in Kenya and beyond,” Zhang said.
He added that YADEA’s partnerships with local distributors and ecosystem players will ensure better market access and tailored mobility solutions for both commercial and personal users.
YADEA’s presence in Kenya builds on its broader African expansion strategy, which began in Morocco in 2023. The company now operates in more than 20 African countries and continues to grow its sales and service networks across the continent.
Backed by ten global manufacturing bases and strong R&D capabilities, YADEA has positioned itself as a global leader in electric mobility innovation. Founded in 2001, the company has ranked as the world’s leading electric two-wheeler brand by sales for nine consecutive years.
Its product range includes electric motorcycles, scooters, e-bikes, kick scooters, batteries, and mobility accessories. Today, YADEA serves over 100 million users across more than 100 countries through a global network of over 40,000 retail outlets.
With the launch of KIFA at Auto Expo Kenya 2026, YADEA is reinforcing its commitment to Africa’s clean transportation transition, combining innovation, local partnerships, and scalable electric mobility solutions to drive sustainable growth across the continent.
