Nigeria: Heirs Energies celebrates its third anniversary

Heirs Energies, Africa’s leading indigenous integrated energy company, has celebrated its third anniversary. Within a short span, the company has achieved notable production increases, introduced an innovative model for community engagement, and assembled a world-class Nigerian management team. These efforts mark a transformative stride towards securing Nigeria’s sustainable energy future.

Launched in January 2021, Heirs Energies emerged after an eight-year, $1.2 billion transaction to acquire oil license OML17 from the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited, Total E&P Nigeria Limited, and ENI. This move also solidified a joint venture partnership with NNPC Limited.

The Chairman of Heirs Energies, Tony Elumelu conveyed his admiration and reflected on his vision for the company.

“As someone from the Niger Delta, I had seen firsthand how Nigeria’s resource wealth can be mishandled. The energy sector was an industry that had frankly not served Nigeria’s interest.

I knew Nigeria could do better and control her destiny. My vision was to build Africa’s largest indigenous-owned integrated energy company, focused on Africa’s unique energy needs. As I look back now, we have more than succeeded,” he said.

Elumelu commended the team, expressing deep gratitude for their commitment to realizing his vision of creating value for all stakeholders within the energy sector.
