Kenya: CBK introduces four updates to Kenyan banknotes
The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has updated its banknotes five years after their previous redesign.
CBK announced that new security features have been introduced to the banknotes first issued in June 2019. These changes apply to all denominations: Ksh. 50, Ksh. 100, Ksh. 200, Ksh. 500, and Ksh. 1,000.
The revised notes now include:
The signature of CBK Governor Dr. Kamau Thugge.
The signature of National Treasury Principal Secretary Dr. Chris Kiptoo.
A print year of 2024.
Enhanced security threads with color-changing effects unique to each denomination.
All other features remain as they were in the 2019 series.
