Chose Modise is a seasoned financial leader with a distinguished career spanning over 15 years in finance, audit, and executive leadership. As Chief Executive Officer of Stanbic Bank Botswana , Chose drives the bank’s strategic vision, fostering growth and innovation in Botswana’s financial sector.

Modise joined Stanbic Bank Botswana as Chief Financial Officer, a role he held for over three years. During this time, he provided strategic financial leadership, overseeing budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance, while driving operational efficiency. His expertise laid a strong foundation for his ascent to CEO, where he continues to shape the bank’s growth trajectory.

Before Stanbic, Modise served as Finance Director at Swaziland Beverages Limited (SABMiller Affiliate). He led financial strategy, advised the CEO and board on fiscal matters, and oversaw critical functions including IT, procurement, and payroll, driving robust financial performance. Concurrently, he held the role of Chief Financial Officer at Botswana Life, further honing her expertise in financial management.

Modise’s earlier career includes significant roles in the beverage industry. As Internal Audit Manager at SABMiller Africa & Asia, she managed audit functions across multiple countries, ensuring robust internal controls and risk management. He also served as Group Finance Development Manager and Group Company Secretary at Kgalagadi Breweries and Finance Manager at Botswana Breweries , where she contributed to strategic planning and transformation initiatives.

Modise has driven significant achievements and innovations, positioning the bank as a leader in Botswana’s financial sector.He has spearheaded the execution of Stanbic’s Letsema 2025 Strategy, focusing on sustainable growth through investments in infrastructure, digital solutions, and skills development.

In 2025, Modise championed the potential of virtual assets to transform Botswana’s economy, aligning with global projections of a $13 trillion virtual assets market by 2027. Also, he led Stanbic’s collaboration with Debswana’s Citizen Economic Empowerment Programme (CEEP), providing credit facilities, digitized solutions, and access to the Stanbic Bank Accelerate Incubator for SMEs.

Under Modise’s leadership, Stanbic introduced innovative platforms like the eMarketTrader Mobile App, enhancing real-time forex access for clients. They posted a profit before tax of P950 million ($71 million) for the year ended 31 December 2024, 44% more than the P661 million ($49.4 million) posted in the financial year 2023.

With a proven track record of leadership and financial acumen, Chose Modise continues to drive Stanbic Bank Botswana’s mission to deliver innovative financial solutions, contributing significantly to Botswana’s economic landscape.
