Absa promotes Nivash Sewgobind to Head of Performance Analytics

Nivash Sewgobind has been promoted to Head of Performance Analytics & Business Partnering at Absa Group, marking a significant step in his career within the financial services sector.

Sewgobind announced the appointment on LinkedIn, expressing gratitude for the support and opportunities that led to the milestone. “I’m excited to share that I have been promoted to Head of Performance Analytics & Business Partnering at Absa Group. I’m grateful for the support, mentorship and opportunities that have contributed to this milestone,” he said.

In his new role, based in Sandton, Gauteng, Sewgobind will oversee performance analytics and business partnering functions for the group. The appointment follows his previous position as Vice President and Senior Manager: Finance and Performance – Private Wealth Banking.

During that tenure, he led a cross-functional team of finance business partners and analysts focused on enhancing financial performance and operational excellence. He drove end-to-end financial reporting, delivered timely management reports to support decision-making, and worked with business unit heads to design reports and align key performance indicators, helping foster a performance-driven culture.

Prior to that, Nivash Sewgobind served as Assistant Vice President: Controller – Risk Management, Governance and Control at Absa Group.
In that role, he led the financial reporting risk governance process across multiple clusters and countries, conducted analytical reviews and variance analyses, developed risk dashboards and management information packs, and delivered training on financial reporting policies to strengthen compliance and risk assurance.

Before joining Absa, Sewgobind built extensive experience in finance and auditing. He served as Financial Manager at Envirosan Sanitation Solutions in Durban, where he managed financial operations, inventory control, costing, procurement and supplier relationships, while collaborating with the CFO on budgeting and cash flow forecasting.

He also held roles as Audit Senior at Aitken Lambert Elsworth Inc., Senior Auditor and Semi-Senior Auditor at Watermans Registered Auditors, and earlier positions as Assistant Financial Manager and Assistant Brand-related finance roles.

Sewgobind’s career spans financial reporting, management accounting, risk governance, auditing under IFRS standards, and performance analytics across banking, manufacturing and professional services sectors.
