Ghana: GCB Bank collaborates with SEHP to support BECE student

GCB Bank, the leading financial institution in Ghana, has once again demonstrated its commitment to community development and education through the purchase of 3,000 textbooks for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) Revision Project organized by the Samira Empowerment and Humanitarian Projects (SEHP).

This initiative, led by the Second Lady, Mrs. Samira Bawumia, aims to enhance the educational opportunities and outcomes for students across the country. This project targeted over 15 Educational Districts, encompassing approximately 850 schools.

The provision of these revision textbooks is expected to greatly benefit students as they prepare for the ongoing BECE, which will serve as a gateway to their future educational and career prospects.

The collaboration between GCB Bank and SEHP underscores the Bank’s dedication to fostering educational development and supporting youth empowerment in Ghana. By supplying these vital resources, GCB Bank is helping to bridge the gap in access to educational materials, ensuring that students, regardless of their geographical location or socio-economic status, have the required quality study aids.

The Bank’s involvement in this project is part of its broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy, which focuses on education, health, community development, among others. The bank believes that investing in education is crucial for national development, and initiatives like the BECE Revision Project is essential for nurturing the next generation of leaders and professionals.

The BECE Revision Project is particularly impactful as it directly addresses the needs of students in some of the most underserved regions. In addition, the project prioritizes the training of teachers on the use of a tailor-made teacher’s training module designed to ensure the efficient use of the revision books.

By supporting SEHP, GCB Bank is not only contributing to the immediate educational needs of students but also investing in the long-term socio-economic development of Ghana. The provision of these textbooks to over 850 schools across 15 educational districts is a significant step towards ensuring that every student has the resources needed to facilitate success. Through such initiatives, GCB Bank continues to play a pivotal role in shaping a brighter future for the youth of Ghana.

Recognizing the significance of a conducive learning environment to ensuring successful outcomes in the educational process, GCB Bank has made substantial investments in educational infrastructure as part of its CSR agenda. The Bank has provided funding for the building and refurbishment of schools, particularly in underprivileged areas.

GCB Bank PLC is a leading player in Ghana’s banking industry, with 184 branches, 340 ATMs and a number of banking agents spread across the length and breadth of the country. As Ghana’s premier indigenous bank, GCB has, since its establishment in 1953, been described as a systemic bank with significant contribution to Ghana’ growth in multiple sectors including oil and gas, agriculture, commerce among others.

The Bank has transformed itself into one of Ghana’s most modern banks in terms of its financial intermediation capabilities including digital payment platforms and consequently its corporate reputation both at home and abroad.
