Ghana: Zenith Bank celebrates its 19th anniversary with a grand health walk

To mark its 19th anniversary, Zenith Bank, a leading financial institution, organized a health walk to promote wellness among its employees and clients.

The event, titled ‘19 Years of Financial Innovation and Excellence,’ gathered board members, management, staff, customers, and key stakeholders of the bank.

The annual health walk represents Zenith Bank’s dedication to promoting wellness and the shared growth of its extended ‘family’—including customers and stakeholders.

Participants embarked on an 8-kilometer walk, starting from the bank’s head office at Ridge in Accra, passing through Trade Fair and Circle, before returning to complete the route in two hours.

Zenith Bank Ghana’s Managing Director, Henry Onwuzurigbo, addressed the participants, emphasizing: “Health is wealth. Let’s prioritize fitness and move away from our sedentary habits. We even shut down our elevator for a week to encourage staff to prepare for this walk.”

He also highlighted the vital role of the bank’s customers, emphasizing that their support is fundamental to the bank’s continued success.

Furthermore, he assured attendees that Zenith Bank remains committed to prioritizing customer needs. “Thank you for your tremendous support. I promise that Zenith Bank will continue to act in your best interests,” he stated.

In a demonstration of its commitment to fostering academic excellence, the bank has signed a contract with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to sponsor the Overall Best WASSCE Candidate award for the next five years.

Additionally, he mentioned the bank’s donation of 20 laptops to Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and 10 desktop computers to Ho Technical University (HTU), among other contributions.

With the bank celebrating its 20th anniversary next year, the MD alluded to higher expectations.

Dignitaries who participated in the health walk included Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana – Ibok-Ete Ibas, and the bank’s Board Chair – Mrs. Freda Yahan Duplan.

Zenith Bank Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of Zenith Bank Plc, was incorporated in April 2005 under the Companies Code, 1963 (Act 179) as a private limited liability company and licensed by the Bank of Ghana in September 2005 under the Banking Act, 2004 (Act 673).
