Tanzania Commercial Bank (TCB) CEO, Adam Charles Mihayo emerges InstinctBusiness CEO of the Week

InstinctBusiness Magazine has named the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tanzania Commercial Bank (TCB) Adam Charles Mihayo, as the CEO of the week.

Mr. Adam Mihayo is an accomplished executive with a wealth of experience in the banking industry and career spanning local and international banks. He joined TCB as Chief Executive Officer following his appointment by the President of United Republic of Tanzania H.E Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan in November 2023.With over two decades of experience in the financial sector, Mihayo has established himself as a key figure in banking and financial services in Tanzania.

Before taking the helm at TCB, Mihayo amassed a wealth of experience in various leadership roles within the banking industry. His career has been marked by a series of successful stints in different banks, where he showcased his ability to drive growth, enhance operational efficiency, and implement innovative financial solutions. His roles have included senior positions in strategic planning, risk management, and customer service, which have collectively equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of the banking landscape.

As the Managing Director of TCB, Mihayo has been instrumental in steering the bank towards significant milestones. Under his leadership, TCB has not only expanded its market share but also increased its profitability and operational efficiency. He has been a key driver behind TCB’s digital transformation initiatives, focusing on integrating technology to enhance customer experience and streamline banking services. Mihayo’s strategic vision has been crucial in positioning TCB as a leader in financial innovation and inclusive banking in Tanzania.

His tenure at TCB has been marked by numerous achievements. He has led efforts to expand the bank’s outreach to underserved communities, promoting financial inclusion across the country. Currently Mihayo is a Member of the Tanzania Bankers Association, a Board Member of the World Savings and Retail Banking Institute (WSBI) based in Brussels, a Board Member of UmojaSwitch and a former Board Member of the Tanzania Mortgage Refinance Company Limited (TMRC) where he also chaired the Board Credit Committee. Mr. Mihayo holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Hons) majoring in Corporate Finance from University of Dar es Salaam and has attended a number of senior leadership courses. He is also a certified director by The Institute of Directors in Tanzania (IoDT).

Transcorp Hotels Plc Managing Director/CEO, Dupe Olusola emerges InstinctBusiness CEO of the week

Prior to joining Transcorp Hotels, Dupe was the Group Head, Marketing for United Bank for Africa Plc. In UBA, she also served as the Group Head Embassies, Multilaterals and Development Organizations (EMDOs) and Global Investors Services (GIS).

Dupe’s professional career began in the financial services sector, where she gained valuable experience in various roles, including investment banking and asset management. She then transitioned to the consumer goods industry, where she held senior management positions, leading marketing and business development initiatives. Her versatility and expertise in these roles laid the groundwork for her successful entry into the hospitality sector.

Under her stewardship, Transcorp Hotels has embarked on an ambitious growth strategy, focusing on expanding its portfolio, improving service quality, and adopting innovative technologies. Dupe was named amongst Nigeria’s 10 Most Influential CEOS of 2015 by Ventures Africa and Nigeria’s 100 Most Inspiring Women by Leading Ladies Africa and YNaija multiple times. On International Women’s Day, 2021, she was celebrated by The Will Downtown magazine as one of the top 100 women changing the narrative. Later In 2021, she was listed as one of the top 4 women in Africa in the Strategic Women in Leadership Award (SAWIL). In 2023, Dupe was named CEO of the Year by the Seven Stars Luxury Hospitality and Lifestyle Awards, and Nigeria’s Leadership Newspaper. She is the first woman to be the CEO of a publicly quoted company on the Nigerian Exchange with market capitalisation of N1 trillion.
