Karen Nadasen, CEO PayU Africa named as InstinctBusiness magazine’s CEO of the Week

PayU Africa’s CEO Karen Nadasen, a self-motivated professional with extensive experience working in both Europe and Africa, has been chosen by InstinctBusiness magazine as “CEO of the week.”

Nadasen is often described as one of the country’s most inspiring women in Tech, she has been nominated for IT Personality of the Year 2017, was listed among 100 Most Influential Young South Africans 2017 and the Regional Winner (SADC) of Africa’s Most Influential Women in Business and Government 2018.

She is prominent in driving diversity and inclusion for PayU across the continent ,advocate and avid supporter of women in STEM and is the Chair for the Ecommerce Forum of South Africa (EFSA).

Nadasen joined PayU in June 2012 as a Product Manager; she advanced to Head of Product and Delivery Manager for MEA, before being appointed as CEO in June 2016.

Since becoming CEO, PayU has dramatically grown its total ecommerce processing volume and revenue, whilst costs have reduced significantly during her tenure. All this whilst balancing personal life – Karen started her position as CEO having just returned from maternity leave after 4 months. Though Karen’s industry experience, mostly abroad, ranges from FTSE 100 companies, and large multi-nationals, she started out as a Java developer in a small development house in Cape Town.

She is passionate about direct, on-the-ground leadership and execution, fostering environments that promote visibility, hard work and dedication, that inspire and deliver results.
