Kemi Omotosho takes the helm as CEO of MultiChoice Nigeria

Kemi Omotosho has been named the new Chief Executive Officer of MultiChoice Nigeria, stepping into the leadership of one of Africa’s most influential media and entertainment companies at a transformative moment for the industry.She succeeds John Ugbe, who is retiring after a long tenure as the company’s leader.

Early Foundations in Customer-Centric Excellence
Kemi Omotosho’s career is rooted in a deep commitment to understanding and elevating customer experiences across telecommunications and digital services. Beginning her professional journey in customer service and sales roles, she quickly demonstrated an aptitude for building relationships, optimizing operations, and driving revenue through targeted strategies. Her early tenure included managing corporate accounts for major clients, where she honed skills in portfolio management, retention, and collections while fostering product penetration and usage. This foundational phase instilled a customer-first philosophy that would define her leadership style, blending analytical precision with a focus on sustainable growth in competitive markets.

Rising Through Telecommunications Leadership
At Airtel Nigeria, Omotosho advanced rapidly through progressively senior positions in postpaid usage, retention, and enterprise segments. She spearheaded initiatives to enhance customer profitability, optimize sales pipelines, and retain high-value accounts in corporate and SMB sectors. Her strategies emphasized data-driven decision-making, segmentation, and proactive gap-closing measures to meet ambitious subscriber and revenue targets. These experiences sharpened her ability to lead complex teams, navigate regulatory environments, and deliver consistent operational excellence in fast-evolving telecom landscapes, laying the groundwork for her transition into broader media and entertainment leadership.

Transformative Impact at MultiChoice Group
Joining MultiChoice Group, Omotosho ascended through key roles that showcased her strategic vision and execution prowess. As Head of Retention and later Head of Customer Lifecycle Management, she developed innovative approaches to subscriber growth, revenue enhancement, and base retention across DStv and GOtv platforms. She pioneered advanced customer segmentation models blending ARPU, active tenor, and device type, while scaling large outbound operations and deploying analytics for precise targeting. In her capacity as Group Executive Head of Customer Value Management, she assumed continent-wide accountability, driving KPIs such as churn reduction, ARPU uplift, and digital penetration through insight-led campaigns, strategic planning, and governance frameworks that promoted operational excellence across Africa’s diverse markets.

Regional Stewardship and Strategic Oversight
Most recently serving as Regional Director for Southern Africa, Omotosho held full profit-and-loss responsibility for a multi-country portfolio. She led transformative business operations, including PMO adoption, agile methodologies, and executive program governance, while fostering communities of practice for knowledge sharing and best-practice dissemination. Her leadership emphasized resource allocation, budget ownership, and mentoring high-performing teams, consistently delivering disciplined growth and resilience in dynamic regional contexts.
