Kwame Osei-Prempeh CEO of GOIL PLC; A Leader Navigating Diverse Domains

Seamlessly balancing his role as a legal professional and the Chief Executive Officer at one of Ghana’s premier oil companies – GOIL PLC, Kwame Osei-Prempeh positions himself as a standout figure, setting new standards of achievement.

Hailing from Kwamang in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, Kwame Osei-Prempeh pursued his secondary education at SDA Secondary School in Agona-Ashanti, achieving his GCE Ordinary Level Certificate. He later attended SDA Secondary School in Bekwai-Ashanti, to obtain his Advance Level Certificate.

Continuing his educational journey, he advanced to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, to earn a Bachelor of Social Science degree in 1982.

In 1987, he pursued Quantum Chemistry Laboratory studies at the University of Ghana.

Furthering his academic pursuits, he attended the Ghana School of Law, achieving a Bachelor of Law degree in 1989. He holds a Certificate in Legislative Drafting and Master of Arts in Conflict, Peace and Security from the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre.

Leadership

With an extensive experience in both public service and private practice, the Board of Directors at GOIL Company Ltd, in June 2019 appointed Kwame Osei-Prempeh as the Acting Managing Director and Group Chief Executive of the company. Kwame Osei-Prempeh served as a Board Member of GOIL since 2017.

In his earlier professional roles, he served as Chairman at Ghana Supply Co. Ltd. and held a position as a Council Member at Ghana Prisons Service.

Political and Legal Role

Beyond his corporate leadership, Kwame Osei-Prempeh from June 2006 to January 2009, held the position of Ghana’s Deputy Attorney-General and Minister of Justice. Furthermore, he represented Nsuta-Kwamang Beposo in the Ashanti Region as a Member of Parliament from 1997 to 2013. He has also contributed to various boards, including those of Ghana Supply Company, Prisons Service, Gratis Foundation, and the National Media Commission.

Contribution to GOIL PLC

Under his leadership, GOIL is making remarkable progress towards becoming the leading Oil Marketing Giant in the country.  He has led GOIL to become a major stakeholder in Ghana’s downstream sector expanding its branches to every part of the country, he was instrumental in the integration of the company’s electronic payment system into the national payment platform –Ghlink and the adoption of other digital payment platforms which has tremendously reduced cash transaction at GOIL’s pumps, in 2022 the company under the watch of Mr. Osei-Prempeh registered a net profit after tax of GHC 123.89 million.

His achievements with GOIL PLC has won the company numerous award, Mr. Osei-Prempeh was recently named the “Outstanding CEO in the Pe­troleum downstream sector” at the Ghana CEO Summit.

Amidst his multifaceted career, Kwame Osei-Prempeh remains a dedicated family man, married with four children.
