With over two decades of expertise in the Banking Industry and a track record of leadership in more than 8 African countries, Melu currently serves as the Managing Director and CEO of Absa Bank Zambia PLC.

A seasoned professional in business development and transformation strategies, Melu’s career highlights include leading the global business in banking across Asia and Africa. Her previous substantive role at Standard Chartered Bank, along with her current directorial positions at institutions like the Museum for United Nations – UN Live Board and Zambia National Pension Scheme Authority, reflects her commitment to contributing to various sectors.

Melu’s outstanding contributions have earned her numerous accolades, including 15 Best CEO awards, the 2023 BEST CEO SADC award, and recognition as one of the Top 100 Women CEOs in Africa in 2021.

Her accolades also include the 2020 Banking CEO of the Year Zambia by Global Banking and Finance Magazine, the 2019 Banking CEO of the Year Zambia by International Business Magazine, and the 2017 Transformational Leadership Award.

Melu is academically distinguished, holding an MBA from Henley Management College in the UK, an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (A.C.I.B) the UK, and a fellowship status at the Zambia Institute of Bankers. Her continuous pursuit of excellence sets a remarkable standard in the banking industry.
