MTN appoints Mitwa Ng’ambi as Chief People and Culture Officer

MTN Group has confirmed that Mitwa Ng’ambi has been appointed as MTN Group Chief People and Culture Officer and will join the Group Executive Committee no later than September 1, 2026. She will succeed Paul Norman, who is set to retire after nearly three decades of service to the company.

Announcing the appointment, Ralph Mupita, President and CEO of MTN Group, said Ng’ambi would lead the company’s people and culture agenda during a critical phase of its Ambition 2030 strategy. He praised Norman for his significant contribution to the business throughout his distinguished career.

Ng’ambi currently serves as CEO of MTN Côte d’Ivoire. Her elevation to the Group role has triggered leadership changes within MTN’s operating companies.

Mupita congratulated the three executives, expressing confidence in their ability to drive the Group’s strategic objectives under Ambition 2030. He also reiterated MTN’s intention to formally celebrate Norman’s contributions later in the year.

According to the company, the decision to fill the positions from within reflects the depth of talent across the Group and the strength of its succession planning processes.

Ng’ambi brings more than 15 years of leadership experience in the African telecommunications sector, having held senior roles across Zambia, Benin, Senegal, Ghana, Rwanda, Cameroon and Côte d’Ivoire. Her career includes CEO positions at MTN Cameroon, MTN Rwanda, Airtel Tigo Ghana and Tigo Senegal, where she led major business transformation, restructuring, merger integration and digital innovation initiatives.
