
Mutual Trust MFBank appoints Josiah Ayoola Bukoye as new MD/CEO
Josiah Ayoola Bukoye has been appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Mutual Trust MFBank Limited, the microfinance bank announced following his LinkedIn update confirming the new role.
Bukoye assumed the position in September 2026 after more than a decade of progressive leadership within the institution. He previously served as Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer from , Chief Marketing Officer from , and Group Head of the Business Development Group.
In his new capacity, Bukoye provides strategic and executive leadership aimed at driving the bank’s growth, institutional performance, customer value and long-term sustainability. His responsibilities include setting strategic direction, leading initiatives in customer acquisition, deposit mobilisation, lending and market expansion, strengthening financial and operational performance, and overseeing credit, risk management, compliance and corporate governance in collaboration with the Board and Management.
He will also focus on customer-focused product development, deepening financial inclusion through technology-enabled services, building a high-performance culture, developing strategic partnerships, advancing digital transformation, and nurturing leadership capacity and succession across the organisation.

“As the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Mutual Trust MFBank, I provide strategic and executive leadership in driving the Bank’s growth, institutional performance, customer value, and long-term sustainability,” Bukoye stated in his announcement.
Before rising through the ranks at Mutual Trust MFBank, Bukoye held key positions at other financial institutions. He served as Back Up Branch Manager at First City Monument Bank (FCMB) , and as Business Development Manager at Brinq Africa Payment Solutions Ltd, a CBN-licensed Payment Terminal Service Provider.
His earlier career includes significant roles at Fortis Microfinance Bank Plc in Abuja, where he worked as Turn Around Business Manager , Head of the Retail Banking Unit, Pioneer Business Manager of the Kubwa branch, and Relationship Manager. During his time as Pioneer Business Manager, the branch became the first to achieve current account balances of ₦200 million from pure microfinance and retail customers in January 2009. As Turn Around Business Manager, he revived a branch to profitability within 60 days and recorded substantial balance sheet and risk asset growth.
Bukoye’s extensive experience in business development, marketing, strategy, retail banking and microfinance positions him to lead Mutual Trust MFBank in expanding access to financial services, strengthening governance and driving sustainable performance in Nigeria’s microfinance sector.
