Nigeria: Union Bank promotes female inclusion

Union Bank of Nigeria has emphasized the need for an equitable and inclusive society free from biases, stereotypes, and discrimination, particularly against women.

The Chief Executive Officer of the bank, Yetunde Oni, stated this during the commemoration of the 2024 International Women’s Day.

The global campaign theme for this year’s was #InspireInclusion.

According to a statement, the event, named ‘Ability Over Gender’, served as a platform for Union Bank to demonstrate its dedication to gender inclusivity and the advancement of female excellence and competence across various fields.

During her keynote address at the event, Oni emphasized the financial institution’s ongoing commitment to advocating for the advancement of women and other underrepresented communities. She also highlighted the importance of their inclusion and recognition in traditionally exclusive spaces.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Chief Brand & Marketing Officer at Union Bank, Olufunmilola Aluko, said, “Union Bank, at its core, stands for equal representation and acknowledgement of the incredible skills and ability women bring to the table notwithstanding the industry or enterprise they engage in.

“The message behind this year’s theme is a call for everyone to strive for a fair, equitable world where individuals are judged and assessed on the depth of their capability rather than their biological makeup.”
