South Africa: SABC appoints Nomsa Chabeli as Group CEO

The South Africa Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) Limited has revealed the appointment of experienced marketer Nomsa Chabeli as the new Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO).

With a career spanning over two decades, Chabeli brings a wealth of experience from various organizations, including notable roles at MTN and Multichoice. She served as the Marketing Director for SuperSport and later managed the DStv portfolio.

Furthermore, Chabeli has held positions at SAB, Brand South Africa, GCIS, and Edcon. Her track record includes developing compelling and highly influential brand messaging that resonates with a diverse customer base. Additionally, she is skilled in overseeing market intelligence activities to identify market trends, customer behaviors, and emerging technologies.

At MTN South Africa, Chabeli played a role in propelling MTN to become the most valuable brand in the country, earning the title of 2022 Brand of the Year in the Brand Finance South Africa 100 report. Her leadership extended from envisioning innovative marketing strategies to cultivating a culture of creativity. Chabeli has not only elevated the brands under her guidance but has also made a lasting impact on the industry.

Among her notable career achievements, Chabeli led the marketing and communications efforts for the successful 2010 World Cup Bid, securing South Africa as the host country. She served as the Marketing Director for the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2003 and played a key role in developing and executing South Africa’s communications and marketing strategy for various Davos World Economic Forums. Chabeli holds an MBA from Henley Business School and is currently pursuing a Masters in Digital Business at Wits Business School.
