Kenya: Jambojet unveils Mombasa to Zanzibar route

Jambojet has introduced a new flight route from Mombasa to Zanzibar. This expansion represents a significant milestone in the airline’s mission to connect East Africa, offering reliable, safe, and accessible air travel for the region.

During the inauguration, Jambojet MD and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Karanja Ndegwa remarked that the launch of the Mombasa to Zanzibar route underscores the airline’s commitment to enhancing connectivity and increasing capacity between Kenya and Tanzania. This initiative is expected to boost local economies and promote cultural exchange.

“As a pioneer low-cost airline, Jambojet is proud to make air travel accessible to a broader segment of the population. Our competitive fares and extensive network of domestic and regional flights enable more people to explore the beauty and diversity of East Africa,” Ndegwa said.

He further emphasized that the new route will facilitate regional trade by providing efficient and dependable transportation for goods. This initiative is set to benefit businesses and foster economic growth in both Kenya and Tanzania, including through cargo services.

Adding that overall, the Mombasa to Zanzibar route is set to strengthen ties and create new opportunities across the region.

“Our fares start from Sh24,420, which is Sh495,000 for a return flight. This is between 30% – 50% lower compared to what is currently available in the market. Customers on this route stand to gain significantly from the lower fares through cost savings, improved value, and increased travel opportunities,” he added

The route will operate four times weekly, specifically on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Departures from Mombasa are scheduled for 3:35 PM, arriving in Zanzibar at 4:30 PM. Return flights from Zanzibar will depart at 5:10 PM, arriving back in Mombasa at 6:05 PM.
