NEW: Genser Energy secures €456m to fund West African expansion
Genser Energy Investments LLC, a leading integrated energy company in West Africa, has completed a €456 million term and revolving credit facilities package arranged by three major South African banks.
The facilities were arranged by FirstRand Bank Limited (acting through its Rand Merchant Bank division), Absa Bank Limited (Corporate and Investment Banking), and The Standard Bank of South Africa Limited (Corporate and Investment Banking). The funds will provide working capital to support the completion of ongoing engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects, strengthen the company’s balance sheet, and give Genser additional financial flexibility for its strategic priorities and continued growth.
The financing marks another milestone in Genser’s long-term strategy of building a robust financial platform to support investment in energy infrastructure, operational expansion and new opportunities across West Africa.
It builds on earlier transactions completed in 2025, including Genser Energy Ghana’s landmark US$428 million corporate refinancing and Genser Energy d’Ivoire SA’s €200 million equipment loan facility. Together, the deals underline the company’s ability to attract support from leading financial institutions as it scales its integrated gas-to-power platform.
Baafour Asiamah-Adjei, Chief Executive Officer of Genser Energy, said the company has taken a long-term approach to developing energy infrastructure in the region since its inception.

“This financing reflects the confidence our financial partners continue to place in that vision, and we are grateful for the support of RMB, Absa and Standard Bank. As we continue to grow, our focus remains unchanged: investing in large-scale infrastructure that delivers reliable energy, supports industry and creates long-term value for the countries and communities we serve.”
The package follows Genser’s successful strategic shareholder transition, announced in July 2026, and comes as the company enters its next phase of growth. Later this year, Genser expects to commission the Gas Conditioning Plant (GCP) and the Takoradi Natural Gas Liquids Export Terminal (TNET), two key projects that will mark further progress in its operational evolution.
