CFAO Motors Uganda Managing Director, Thomas Pelletier emerges InstinctBusiness CEO of the Week
InstinctBusiness Magazine has named the Managing Director (MD) of CFAO Motors Uganda, Thomas Pelletier, as its CEO of the week.
Pelletier holds over 25 years of experience in the automobile industry across Africa, having held various positions in countries like France, Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria, and now Uganda. Before his current role, he was the Country Delegate of CFAO Group in Nigeria and the Managing Director of several CFAO subsidiaries there. He also served on the Board of Directors for CFAO Ghana Limited and was involved with the Ghana Automobile Distributors Association and the Drivers and Vehicles Licensing Authority in Ghana.
He is a strong advocate for e-mobility and has pushed for the adoption of electric vehicles in Uganda, highlighting the need for collaboration between private companies and the government to advance sustainable transportation
Under his leadership, CFAO Motors Uganda has initiated projects aimed at reducing carbon emissions and supporting local communities through vocational training and employment opportunities, the company has also expanded its presence and service network in Uganda. As the Managing Director of CFAO Motors Uganda, he oversees the distribution of leading automotive brands such as Toyota, Suzuki, and Yamaha.
Pelletier leadership has been recognized through his appointment as a French Trade Advisor, reflecting his influence and contributions to the industry on a broader scale
He is married with three children.
Enterprise Life Nigeria Managing Director/CEO, Funmilayo Omo emerges InstinctBusiness CEO of the week
InstinctBusiness Magazine has named the Managing Director/CEO of Enterprise Life Nigeria, Funmilayo Omo, as its CEO of the week.
An innovative and transformational leader, Funmilayo Omo, the Managing Director /CEO of Enterprise Life Nigeria, a subsidiary of the financial services group, Enterprise Group has become this week’s InstinctBusiness CEO of the week. With over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, funmi has significantly contributed to digital transformation and growth in companies like African Alliance Insurance Plc, where she previously served as Managing Director.
Prior to joining Enterprise Life, she spent a considerable part of her career at African Alliance Insurance Plc, where she rose to the position of Managing Director in 2017. During her tenure, she championed the digital transformation of the company, which led to significant growth and enhanced performance. She also pioneered the development and successful launch of microinsurance and the annuity products that made African Alliance a leading player in the industry. Additionally, she introduced and managed the Family Takaful Office in Nigeria, showcasing her innovative approach to insurance.
Funmi as a leader has been marked by significant achievements and milestones. In 2019, she was recognized as one of the top 100 women CEOs in Africa by Reset Global People, an initiative backed by the UN and the Ghanaian Presidency. Her leadership extends beyond the corporate world, as she actively contributes to various boards, including the Freedom Foundation and previously held positions in notable organizations such as the Ajaokuta Steel Complex and National Iron Ore Mining Company.
She is an alumna of the China European Business School and Lagos Business School. She is a chartered insurer and holds memberships in prestigious organizations such as the Institute of Directors (IOD), the Chartered Insurance Institute (London), the Certified Pensions Institute (Nigeria), and the Nigerian Institute of Management. Her extensive educational background has equipped her with the knowledge and skills to excel in her field
Java Foods Zambia Founder & CEO, Monica Musonda emerges InstinctBusiness CEO of the week
InstinctBusiness Magazine has named the Founder & CEO of Java Foods Zambia, Monica Musonda, as its CEO of the week.
Monica Musonda, a former top-tier corporate lawyer with an impressive career spanning roles in global legal firms and major corporations, has made a significant impact in the entrepreneurial world. As the founder and CEO of Java Foods, she has transitioned from legal expertise to leading one of Zambia’s foremost food processing companies. Monica is an influential figure in the African business community and Zambian advocate with over 15 years of experience in legal practice and corporate management, including being corporate counsel at the International Finance Corporation and for Aliko Dangote of Dangote Industries Limited.
She started her legal career working for the Attorney General of Zambia, going on to work in private practice for Clifford Chance (London) and Edward Nathan (Johannesburg, where she rose to the rank of partner). She also worked as Counsel at International Finance Corporation (IFC) in Washington DC and for the Dangote Group as Director, Legal and Corporate Affairs. She was directly involved in Dangote Cement’s $13 billion listing on the Nigerian Stock Exchange.
She founded Java Foods with the mission of creating accessible and nutritious food products using locally sourced ingredients. The company is noted for its commitment to empowering local farmers and integrating them into the supply chain, particularly in the production of wheat, which is used in their noodles.
Her leadership and vision have grown Java Foods into a leading independent instant noodle manufacturer in the Southern African region, with eeZee Noodles fast becoming a leading brand in Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Malawi. Her vision is to transform the business into one of the leading packaged food manufacturers in the region by 2025. She currently manages a team of 82 people (of which 40% are women) and has raised over $6 million from impact funds and banks over the past four years to fund Java’s expansion.
Monica currently serves on the Boards of the Central Bank of Zambia and Dangote Industries Zambia Limited, and is Chairperson of Kwacha Pension Trust Fund, Zambia’s largest single employer pension fund. She is a 2013 Young Global Leader (World Economic Forum) and Archbishop Desmond Tutu Leadership Fellow. Forbes Magazine and Africa Investor named her as one of the leading Young Power Women in Business in Africa in 2013 and 2014 respectively.
