Jumia Nigeria appoints Temidayo Ojo as CEO

Jumia, Africa’s premier e-commerce giant, has named Temidayo Ojo as the new Chief Executive Officer of its Nigeria operations, signaling a bold step in its leadership evolution.

The announcement, marks a transition from outgoing CEO Sunil Natraj, who successfully guided Jumia Nigeria through economic challenges, revitalizing growth and bolstering consumer trust.

Ojo’s appointment underscores Jumia’s commitment to cultivating local talent and promoting from within. Joining Jumia in 2020 as Head of Planning and Performance, Ojo quickly advanced to Chief Commercial Officer before taking the helm as CEO of Jumia Ghana.

n Ghana, he drove unprecedented growth and fostered a collaborative team culture, setting a strong foundation for his new role in Nigeria. “I’m eager to collaborate with our talented team to amplify our impact, strengthen customer loyalty, and elevate Jumia Nigeria to new heights,” Ojo said.

With an MBA in Finance, Strategy, and Consulting from IESE Business School and a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Lagos, Ojo brings a blend of technical expertise and strategic vision to the role.

Jumia’s Group CEO, Francis Dufay, expressed enthusiasm for the appointment, stating, “Temidayo’s leadership in Ghana demonstrated the power of a united team with a clear vision. His energy, values, and business insight make him the ideal leader to steer Jumia Nigeria into its next phase.” Dufay also acknowledged Natraj’s tenure, noting, “Sunil’s leadership was pivotal in turning around our largest market. We thank him and wish him success in his future endeavors.”

In a parallel move, Jumia announced Seleem Musibau as the new CEO of Jumia Ghana, succeeding Ojo. These leadership changes reflect Jumia’s broader strategy to nurture homegrown talent and drive innovation and sustainable growth across its African markets. As Jumia continues to shape the continent’s e-commerce landscape, Ojo’s appointment signals a dynamic new chapter for its Nigerian operations.
