OrangeDRC and AirtelCongoRDC, an integrated suite of telecommunication solutions have laid a submarine cable in the Democratic Republic of Congo named 2Africa. 2Africa will be the world’s largest submarine cable project, connecting and bringing a more faster and reliable internet service to countries where it is installed.
This undersea cable project aims to link over three billion individuals across Africa, Asia, and Europe. It holds the promise of significant economic growth, potentially multiplying opportunities by tenfold. This development will enhance data exchange and stimulate business prospects, particularly in the Democratic Republic of Congo and across the African continent.
The duo partnered with Meta, the landing party for the 2Africa submarine cable in the Democratic Republic of Congo. As a stakeholder, Meta was the main investor in the planning and preparation for the arrival and operation of the cable in the
DRC.
The 2Africa project in the Democratic Republic of Congo is a key piece of infrastructure for the country’s digital transformation and its connection to the rest of the world.
