Pick n Pay gives out R20 vouchers after public backlash

South Africa’s retail giant, Pick and Pay in a bid to end public backlash on ‘no prize’ scratch cards, has introduced R20 free voucher for every R200 spent by customers

Also, as part of its 50th anniversary, Pick n Pay gave shoppers a scratch card for every R200 spent at the store in August.

Prizes are going to range from R5 in airtime to R10, 000 in shopping vouchers, and there were reports of people winning a packet of jelly or two-minute noodles.

According to, Marketing director John Bradshaw, “So far, 350,000 winning scratch cards have been claimed but the store has some 12 million customers every week, So that’s still plenty of people that are getting scratch cards and are not winning.”

“Pick n Pay has now decided to also give every customer who spends more than R200 between Tuesday and Friday, a R20 voucher to spend on Saturday and Sunday” He added.
