Standard Chartered Bank Botswana announces up to 26% profit growth in H1 2026

Standard Chartered Bank Botswana Limited has issued a cautionary announcement stating that its unaudited consolidated profit before tax (PBT) for the six months ended 30 June 2026 is expected to rise by approximately 16% to 26% compared with the same period in 2025. The anticipated increase indicates stronger financial performance during the first half of the year.

The cautionary announcement was made in accordance with the Botswana Stock Exchange’s listing requirements, which require listed companies to issue such notices when there is reasonable certainty that their expected profit or loss before tax will differ by at least 10% from the previous corresponding period. The announcement therefore serves to inform shareholders and investors of the anticipated change in the bank’s financial performance.

The bank projected that its PBT would increase by between P22 million and P36 million, from the P140 million recorded during the six months ended 30 June 2025. Based on the forecast, Standard Chartered Bank Botswana expects its PBT for the first half of 2026 to fall within a range of approximately P162 million to P176 million.
