Ghana: GCB Bank Celebrates 70th Anniversary with Grand Thanksgiving Service

GCB Bank has held its 70th anniversary celebrations with a special thanksgiving service over the weekend in Accra.

The event, themed ‘Thanking God for 70 years of providing unrivaled financial solutions to the socio-economic development of Ghana,’ aimed to express the bank’s gratitude to God despite various challenges.

Dressed in anniversary attire and filled with a spirit of gratitude, the bank’s staff danced and praised the Creator for His divine providence and grace, which have sustained the bank over seven decades.

“Gratitude in the face of sacrifice is the purest measure of a heart that understands the depth of its blessings,” the Managing Director of GCB Bank, Kofi Adomakoh, said while delivering his keynote address at the event. “It is easy to be grateful when times are good, but true gratitude shines brightest in moments of adversity. These sacrifices, whether personal or collective, have shaped our bank into the institution it is today. They have taught us the values of perseverance, unity and faith.”

He admitted that the past seven decades has been marked by significant achievements and challenges; but said through these experiences the bank has grown, learned and emerged stronger. He added that GCB’s history is a testament to the dedication, resilience and commitment of it staff, the trust of its customers and the guidance of its leaders and regulators.

Furthermore, he said: “Our journey has not always been smooth but it is in moments of difficulties and uncertainty that we have seen the most profound growth and development. Our resilience has forged our character and strengthened our resolve to serve our customers, communities and our country, Ghana, with integrity and excellence”.

He also emphasized the bank’s commitment to ensuring that the country capitalizes on the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and its 1.5 billion-strong single market. He added that GCB will continue to invest in talent development, provide growth opportunities for customers, and support Ghanaian businesses in thriving and expanding beyond the country’s borders.

The sermon at the thanksgiving service was delivered by Rev. Eastwood Anaba, founder of Eastwood Anaba Ministries (EAM), while the prayer session was led by the Most Rev. Dr. Paul Kwabena Boafo, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Ghana.
