Bertrand Mbouck, Chief Executive Officer, Dangote Cement Cameroon, is the InstinctBusiness CEO of the Week.

Mbouck is a strategic business leader with over 20 years of cross-sector experience in finance, energy, and manufacturing across Africa. As the Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Cement Cameroon and a Board Member of the pan-African conglomerate, Mbouck has been instrumental in driving growth, innovation, and sustainable development in the cement industry.

Mbouck drives strategy, business development, and people performance, focusing on productivity, product quality, market share, and shareholder ROI. His leadership aligns with Dangote’s vision, fostering innovation and competitive advantage across Cameroon and export markets.

As Regional Director for Pan-Africa Markets in Lagos, Nigeria, Mbouck oversaw operations in multiple countries, including Cameroon, Congo, Ethiopia, and South Africa, crafting smart marketing strategies to maintain leadership in a dynamic marketplace.

Despite a market share decline from 39% in 2020 to 33% by 2023, Mbouck has sustained Dangote Cement Cameroon’s leadership in the Cameroonian cement market.In 2024, Mbouck announced the construction of a second production site in Yaoundé-Nomayos, set to double the company’s production capacity to 3 million tonnes per year.

Under Mbouck’s leadership, Dangote Cement Cameroon achieved a production volume of approximately 1.4 million tonnes in 2024, contributing to Cameroon’s total cement output of 5 million tonnes.Dangote Cement Cameroon, under Mbouck, became the only cement company in Cameroon utilizing artificial intelligence in its operations, positioning it as a pioneer in innovation within the industry.

His earlier career includes a decade at Wärtsilä Central Africa, where he served as Managing Director in Douala, overseeing eight countries, and as Business Controller in Dakar, managing 29 countries across West and Central Africa. He began at Wärtsilä as Area Business Controller, honing his skills in finance and strategy.

Mbouck ’s auditing foundation was built at Ernst & Young, where he was a Senior Auditor in Cameroon and France and later Audit Manager at C.A.C/Ernst & Young Cameroon, leading audits in telecommunications and oil & gas.
