PZ Cussons appoints Abel Idonije as new Africa People Director

Abel Idonije has been appointed Africa People Director at PZ Cussons, marking a significant new chapter in a career dedicated to talent development and organizational transformation across the continent’s consumer goods sector.

Idonije announced the move with clear enthusiasm for the opportunity ahead. “I am excited to share that I have officially joined PZ Cussons as People Director for Africa,” he said. “Leaving Godrej marks the end of a truly wonderful chapter in my career, where I was fortunate to work with amazing people every day.

“PZ Cussons is home to iconic brands that millions know, love and rely on, and I could not be more inspired by what lies ahead. I look forward to channeling my passion for talent development and business transformation into supporting our exceptional teams as we unleash PZ’s next phase of growth across Africa.”

The appointment brings to PZ Cussons a seasoned human resources leader with extensive experience across major multinational consumer companies.

Prior to joining the group, Idonije served as Associate Vice President for Human Resources – West Africa at Godrej Consumer Products Limited, where he led talent management for senior leaders, shaped the regional people strategy, managed fixed overheads and drove the diversity, equity and inclusion agenda.

His earlier career includes more than a decade at RB (Reckitt), where he held progressive roles culminating in Human Resources Director for West Africa and HR Projects Lead for Africa, Middle East and Turkey.

Before that, he spent several years at Procter & Gamble, rising from production line management to senior HR positions that covered talent acquisition, engagement, performance management, succession planning and organizational design across West and Central Africa.

Throughout his career, Idonije has built a reputation for strengthening people systems, developing leadership pipelines and aligning human capital strategies with business growth. His move to PZ Cussons positions him to shape people and culture priorities at a time when the company continues to expand the reach of its well-known personal care and home care brands across African markets.
