Accra Metropolitan Assembly Mayor introduces digital revenue collection

The Mayor of Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Elizabeth Tawiah Sackey has disclosed a new digitized revenue collection system in March to improve revenue for the Assembly.

The introduction of the system is specialized in making payments more convenient and reducing alleged corruption by providing a conducive and paying environment.

The Mayor accompanied by a team of officers issued receipts of payments for the market and lorry park tolls in the metropolis.

The Mayor in addressing the media said the AMA in partnership with the movement’s digitalization drive will create innovative solutions to block all revenue leakages.

She added that 23 banks have been signed up to provide revenue collection and make payment methods flexible “apart from using the banks, ratepayers can equally pay their bills via mobile money on all networks, QR codes, and a USSD code” she said.

She finally admonished women in the market sector to embrace innovation to bring development to the people of Accra.
