Ghana: Agritech West Africa Expo to boost agricultural innovation
The third edition of the Agritech West Africa exhibition, along with Food & Beverage Ghana and FoodPack Tech Ghana exhibitions, will be held at the Accra International Conference Center from March 19 to 21, 2024, aiming to strengthen agricultural innovation and collaboration efforts.
Under the esteemed auspices of the Ministry of Food & Agriculture and the Ministry of Trade & Industry of Ghana, this flagship event is being held.
This year’s expo, organized by Wegvoraus Exhibitions, receives strong support from key entities including the West African Chamber of Agriculture (WACOA), Croplife Ghana, Association of Ghana Industries, Ghana Union of Traders Association, Food & Beverage Association of Ghana, Farmer Organization Network of Ghana, Federation of Association of Ghanaian Exporters, Guzakuza, and several regional farmers’ cooperatives.
The Agritech West Africa exhibition, alongside Food & Beverage and FoodPack Tech Ghana, covers the entire agricultural value chain, featuring nearly 100 companies from India, Jordan, Denmark, Turkey, Nigeria, Ghana, UK, Italy, France, Spain, and other countries. The exhibition showcases various product segments such as agrochemicals, agriculture technology, irrigation, biofeeds, food processing and packaging technologies, food innovation, and processed food & beverage items.
Active participants in the expo include international chambers such as ASSOCHAM, CCI France Ghana, and ITA, which are organizing dedicated pavilions. A significant highlight of this year’s event is the expected gathering of approximately 5000 business and professional visitors directly and indirectly connected to the agribusiness sector. This diverse group includes commercial and small farmers, farmer groups, food & beverage industries, importers, distributors, wholesalers, retail chains, and supermarkets dealing in foodstuffs and agricultural items.
The expo serves as a vital platform for companies worldwide to connect with Ghanaian and West African business partners, facilitating interactions with growers, manufacturers, and traders/distributors. These engagements foster discussions on new products and pave the way for impactful business partnerships. Furthermore, the event acts as a conduit for the introduction and adaptation of innovative practices in agriculture and food processing and packaging sectors.
As a testament to its commitment, the event will feature seminars and conferences running concurrently for two days. These forums will provide a space for stakeholders to share thoughts, ideas, innovations, and address current issues pertinent to the sector. Participants will include representatives from government ministries, departments, and agencies, along with commercial farmers’ groups, research institutions, and trade associations and chambers of commerce.
Mr. Thomas James, the Project Director of Agritech West Africa at Wegvoraus, emphasized the event’s alignment with Ghana’s development goals. “The event is very much in line with the development goals of the Ghana government’s commitment to value-added agriculture to the national economy and targeted food security,” he remarked.
