Heirs Energies launches new digital operations hub for OML 17
Heirs Energies OML 17 Joint Venture has unveiled its Integrated Operations Monitoring Centre (IOMC),a state-of-the-art digital hub designed to change how upstream assets are monitored, managed, and optimised, in a bold step toward the future of energy production in Nigeria.
Developed in partnership with Redtech, the technology company within the Heirs Holdings Group, the IOMC serves as a central nervous system for OML 17. It integrates real-time data from production monitoring, security surveillance, hydrocarbon evacuation, facility performance, and critical asset intelligence into a single, powerful platform. The centre promises faster decision-making, enhanced collaboration, and proactive risk management across the asset.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Osa Igiehon, Chief Executive Officer of Heirs Energies, described the facility as a game-changer for the industry.
“The future of upstream operations will be driven by data, technology and intelligent decision-making. The Integrated Operations Monitoring Centre provides us with a real-time operational view of our assets, enabling quicker decisions, improved collaboration and enhanced operational efficiency. It reinforces our commitment to deploying innovation to deliver safer, smarter and more resilient operations across OML 17.”

The IOMC goes beyond traditional monitoring. It features advanced intruder detection and surveillance systems for remote assets, while laying the groundwork for predictive analytics, artificial intelligence-enabled insights, and remote operations capabilities in the near future.
Emmanuel Ojo, Managing Director and CEO of Redtech, highlighted the strategic importance of the collaboration.
“At Redtech, we believe technology should simplify operations, improve decision-making and create measurable business value. The IOMC demonstrates what is possible when digital innovation is applied to industrial operations… This is another example of how technology can unlock greater efficiency and performance across Africa’s energy sector.”
A Testament to Transformation
Since assuming operatorship of OML 17 in 2021, Heirs Energies has delivered remarkable results through its Brownfield Excellence strategy. The company has successfully ramped up oil production to over 50,000 barrels per day and increased domestic gas supply to more than 135 million standard cubic feet per day, while significantly improving operational reliability.
The launch of the IOMC marks the next chapter in this transformation — embedding cutting-edge digital capabilities at the heart of field operations. It exemplifies the strength of the Heirs Holdings ecosystem, where synergy between portfolio companies drives meaningful innovation and operational excellence.
As Nigeria’s energy sector navigates the demands of modernisation and energy security, initiatives like the IOMC underscore a clear message: the future of African energy will belong to those who successfully merge operational expertise with digital intelligence. Heirs Energies is positioning itself firmly at the forefront of that future.
