Midwestern Ltd appoints Elozino Olaniyan as first female CEO

Midwestern Oil & Gas Company Limited has named Engr (Mrs) Elozino Olaniyan as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 December 2025.

The appointment makes Olaniyan the first woman to lead the indigenous exploration and production company in its 23-year history, a milestone the board described as “a proud testament to our unwavering commitment to inclusion, innovation and governance excellence.”

A seasoned energy sector leader with more than thirty years of experience, Olaniyan has built a distinguished career steering complex upstream operations, championing local content development and delivering sustainable growth across Nigeria’s oil and gas landscape.

Commenting on the appointment, the company stated: “Engr Olaniyan brings an exceptional blend of technical mastery, strategic vision and people-centred leadership that will propel Midwestern into its next phase of value creation for stakeholders and the nation.”

Under her stewardship, Midwestern reaffirmed its focus on strengthening Nigeria’s domestic energy capacity, deepening local participation in the industry and maintaining the highest standards of operational safety and environmental responsibility.

The board extended a warm invitation to industry partners, stakeholders and staff to join in congratulating Engr Olaniyan as she assumes the helm, ushering in what it called “a bold new chapter of purposeful leadership” for one of Nigeria’s foremost indigenous operators.
